49th LD Held a Successful Octoberfest!

A successful 49th LD fundraiser and social event - OKTOBERFEST was held at the IAFF in October.

"1st Annual 49th LD Oktoberfest

 
On Oct. 1, 60 Democrats assembled in the Firemen's Union Hall in Fruit Valley for a brauts and beer Oktoberfest. 49th LD Chair Mike Heywood reigned at the barbecue and his brautwurst were proclaimed wunderbar! Ask Democratic Women's Chair Donna Quesnell what secret lies in the preparation of her wonderful corn on the cob. Finishing touches on the meal included sauerkraut from Anoush European Deli and garden green salad. Several Democrats arrived in German pinafores and Barack and Michelle Obama cutouts sported German hats with feathers.  Attendees included State Rep. Jim Moeller and Rep Sharon Wylie (pictured, giving a rousing speech) and County Treasurer Doug Lasher. 17th LD Precinct Committee Officer Doug Canoose entertained revelers with his violin. Many new faces appeared thanks to the recruiting efforts of Bev McGuffin and Vicki Work.

Obama Beautiful in Seattle

"President Barack Obama charged Sunday that the GOP vision of government would 'fundamentally cripple America' as he tried out his newly combative message on the liberal West Coast", says an AP article in The Columbian [Link].

Governor Gregoire made a rousing speech at the Paramount Theater luncheon urging support and re-election of our President.  She was well received, of course.  Obama's Speech was strong, direct and concerned with the 'Job's' Bill and support for his re-election.  He was warm, evocative, and very well-received.
